The FDA is now telling people not to eat any fresh spinach or spinach-containing food (Voice of America article, CNN article).

Popeye only eats spinach from cans — probably sterilized by the canning process. He'd be safe. Not so sure about that burger Wimpy is always eating, though. That leafy green bit could be lettuce, or it could be ... deadly spinach.
