Some news about local wind power: Vestas Wind Systems will be coming to either Portland, OR or Longview, WA. And The Wind Turbine Company in Bellevue, WA is developing very effective, lightweight turbines that can withstand heavy gusts.

More good news: Columbia River salmon and steelhead are doing better than expected, with above-average numbers of yearling males returning to spawn. Possibly a factor: "about 90 percent of the young salmon and steelhead migrating down the Snake River were collected, loaded into trucks and barges, and transported around the dams to the ocean".
