A clever idea in sustainable timber: harvest wood in the city. It's not that hard to find logs, since trees need to be chopped down to keep them from damaging utility lines. Instead of sending them to the landfill or burning them, why not turn the logs into furniture? (Seattle Post-Intelligencer)
