Why is it that the printed voter's guide I receive in the mail is always so inadequate? I used to get to the polling place, only to find that I'd never heard of at least 1/3 the people on the ballot — because the voter's guide never mentioned those elections!

Now I get an absentee ballot, and have some time to hunt for information. I've finally found the Washington State Online Voter's Guide, which has candidate statements from all the people who weren't included in the dead-trees version.

This concerns me because you have to either be internet savvy or expend a great deal of effort to be come a reasonably well informed voter. And people are less likely to vote if they don't feel informed and I can see this becoming a big class issue.

Very good point. My only consolation was that this is "just" the primaries... What was with all of the unchallenged candidates, too?
