In blogging news, I hope the environmentalists suing the Navy win. Don't expect they will, but I can hope. This article on MSNBC explains that when the Navy deployed a powerful sonar system in the Bahamas two years ago,

At least 16 whales and two dolphins beached themselves within hours. Eight whales died. Scientists found hemorrhaging around the brain and ear bones, injuries consistent with exposure to loud sounds.

So we've known for at least two years that military sonar kills cetaceans.
