More blogging
Jun. 17th, 2002 05:11 pmThis is very cool, and reminds me of the Living Machines technology designed by Ocean Arks International: Aquatic Greenhouse: A Natural Wastewater Treatment System at the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery
Also worth reading: "Prophet of Bloom," an interview with William McDonough. McDonough envisions a future where recycling is a normal part of manufacturing: everything is designed to reuse the products and byproducts of everything else. For more on McDonough, see his Web site.
"Nice Boulders, But Where's the Fish?", from Whole Earth Magazine, addresses a common problem with habitat restoration projects: they don't work. This piece manages not to be depressing by focusing on some notable projects that did work, and emphasizing the need to take the long view. At the very least, read it for the paragraph that compares human beings to mosquitos.
