What I really need to see in a Peter Jackson movie is

...a scene with a short, stocky, hirsute person who has fallen in love with someone of a different race who is tall, slender, pale, and non-hairy, and when his fellow short and stocky friends ask him, "What do you see in her?" he answers "I know she is SO UGLY, but she's such a nice person that it overcomes her obvious physical failings."

My last college bf grew up to be a kinky gay bear and I think his other kinky gay bear friends had trouble understanding how he could STILL like some cute femmey girl ;)

So, you know, it could happen! A cross cultural thing could work, lots ofcultures stigmatize thinner women and we could probably find some subculture who thought other 'pretty American' looks were kind of weird.
